Using projected figures from the World Bank, if every possible disaster happened at once in the Philippines, there would be 85% GDP lost in the country. I learned this at the "Bikol Cities Redesigning Relationship with Nature and Energy through Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives Sharing and Planning Workshop." The conference seemed as long as that title, but was, overall, very informative. Earlier that day, as our plane passed by this volcano during landing, it started to erupt smoke and ash. An appropriate welcome, given the topic of the workshop.
